Join us for an awe-inspiring journey into the vivid and boundless realm of imagination at Dreamscapes. This unique exhibition brings together an extraordinary collection of artworks created by currently and previously incarcerated artists, offering a glimpse into the vibrant landscapes that emerge from their dreams and inner worlds.
Step into a world of captivating narratives and uncharted territories. Dreamscapes reveals the untold stories and hidden talents of artists who have found solace and inspiration within their creative endeavors. The exhibition sparks important conversations about the criminal legal system and the potential for art to play a role in imagination, self-discovery, and personal growth for artists and viewers.
Transcending the physical confines of incarceration, these talented artists transport us beyond prison walls, inviting us to explore landscapes that are rich in color, emotion, and imagination. Experience the power of art to transcend limitations and touch the essence of the human spirit.
By attending "Dreamscapes," you're not only experiencing an extraordinary art exhibition but also contributing to a larger movement. Your presence supports the recognition of the inherent dignity and artistic brilliance in everyone.
Join JAC and our partners from the Oklahoma Prison Writers and Artists Foundation for the Dreamscapes opening reception on Friday, October 6 from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
There will be readings from Emergence, an anthology of writings by members of the Writer’s Guild at Joseph Harp Correctional Center, musical performances by local bands Acid Queen and Hey Judy, and opportunities to hear from some of the exhibiting artists. This First Friday Art Crawl event is open to all, and donations will directly support arts programs for incarcerated artists, building community and nurturing imagination across the country.
We suggest a donation of $15 but encourage attendees to pay what they can. Nobody will be turned away!
