Enid, OK – Thunderstorms pound Garfield Co.
ENID, Okla. (AP) Some heavy storms have pounded Garfield County, causing flash flooding and damage at Chisholm High School and several area buildings.
Pieces of tin roofing and tree limbs were scattered across the high school parking lot after the thunderstorms packing high winds and heavy rain rolled through late Sunday night. Some areas reported receiving up to 6 inches of rain.
Principal Jaymie Morley says the school's marquee was blown out and the building that houses the school agriculture program was heavily damaged. A new scoreboard at the baseball stadium and two ticket booths at the football stadium also were blown away.
Morley says there was no apparent damage to the main school building and classes will be held as usual Monday morning.
