Tulsa, OK – Heat warning in NE Oklahoma, western Arkansas

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The National Weather Service office in Tulsa has issued a heat warning for residents in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

The warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Monday in Cherokee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Delaware, Ottawa, Washington, Osage, Craig, Nowata, Pawnee, Sequoyah, McIntosh, Muskogee, Le Flore and Haskell counties in Oklahoma. The warning is also in effect for Crawford, Sebastian and Franklin counties in Arkansas.

Emergency Medical Services Authority spokesman Chris Stevens in Tulsa said EMSA responded to five heat related calls Saturday.

No deaths were reported.

The weather service said afternoon heat indexes of 105 degrees were reported in Fort Smith and 104 degrees in Tulsa and Bartlesville.
