Murder Case Update

Tulsa, OK – Motion filed in ex-Okla teacher's murder case

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Attorneys for a former Tulsa school teacher charged in the death of his wife have asked a judge to move the trial to another county if it's shown that media coverage has influenced court proceedings.

According to the motion filed Friday in Tulsa County District Court, lawyers for John Kastner are particularly concerned about statements made by Kastner's previous attorney indicating Kastner suffers from schizophrenia and that an insanity defense would be presented.

The document states that Kastner "'has consistently denied killing his wife, and there is no evidence that he suffers from schizophrenia."

Prosecutors charged Kastner with first-degree murder in the June 25, 2008, fatal shooting of Lori Moon Kastner. John Kastner has blamed an intruder for the killing.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Aug. 16.
