Supreme Court Appointments

By Associated Press/KWGS News

Oklahoma City, OK – Gov. Brad Henry has appointment District Judge Douglas L. Combs to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
A judge in Pottawatomie County, Combs will succeed Justice Rudolph Hargrave, who has announced his retirement after more than 30 years on the state's highest court.
Henry said Friday that Hargrave has been an invaluable member of the court. The governor says Hargrave's extensive knowledge of the law will be missed.
Henry selected Combs from three candidates whose names were submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission. He has been a district judge since 2003 and served as a special district judge beginning in 1995.
Combs has also worked in private practice and served as a deputy clerk for the state Supreme Court and as an assistant state attorney general.
