Tulsa, OK – Former Tulsa defensive back dies from embolism
TULSA, Okla. (AP) University of Tulsa officials and a family friend have confirmed the death of a former Golden Hurricane football player.
Former Tulsa player Nick Graham told the Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/qNw4P4) defensive back Anthony Germany died Tuesday of complications from a pulmonary embolism. He was 25.
Germany played at Tulsa from 2004 to 2007 and started in 36 games. The Putnam City High School graduate was a member of the 2005 team that won the Conference USA football championship.
Coach Bill Blankenship noted in a statement released Wednesday that Germany is the third football player to die recently.
Former linebacker George Clinkscale died in September after participating in an unsanctioned boxing match, and ex-offensive tackle Wilson Holloway died in February after battling Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Germany is survived by a wife and parents.
