Oklahoma City, OK – Fallin seeks SBA's help on Okla. earthquake damage

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has asked the U.S. Small Business Administration to help residents of Lincoln County recover from a series of earthquakes.

Fallin asked for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA for renters, homeowners and business owners to repair or replace property that's not covered by insurance or other assistance programs. It would also help businesses that sustained damage in the earthquakes.

Residents in counties that border Lincoln County could also participate in the program.

Fallin says nearly 200 homes and businesses were damaged when a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck on Nov. 5. The quake was the strongest ever recorded in Oklahoma. Temblors with magnitudes of 4.7 preceded and followed it.

The White House earlier this week denied Fallin's request for individual assistance for those affected by the earthquake.
