Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Drillers accepting video applications from singing hopefuls
TULSA, Okla. (AP) It's not "American Idol," but it could be a chance for an aspiring vocalist to get a shot at singing the national anthem at a sporting event.
The Tulsa Drillers baseball team announced Thursday it is accepting video applications from individuals and groups who are interested in performing the "Star Spangled Banner" at a game this summer.
Officials say the entries will be reviewed and a select number of applicants will invited to ONEOK Field for an audition on February 11th.
Drillers Game Entertainment Manager Justin Gorski says the team has tried scheduling live tryouts in the past, but time constraints limited the number of people they could consider.
The deadline to enter a video application is February 6th.
