Be Weather Wise: Heavy Weather Expected

KWGS News

The National Weather Service in Tulsa is advising you to be weather wise for the next 48-hours. Strong-to-severe thunderstorms are expected across the region starting later today and lasting into Thursday. The NWS released the following statement:

“Surface based instability will increase across the region this afternoon. The highly unstable environment will set the stage for  strong to severe convective development across Southeast Kansas and Northern Oklahoma late this afternoon in the vicinity of a quasi stationary boundary. Better chances for storms across Northeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas will be after 6PM with increased areal coverage.”

The weather service says large hail and high winds, along with heavy rain will be the primary threat. However, they say a tornado is not out of the question.
