October Trial Set for former Bartlesville Officers

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) — A judge has scheduled an Oct. 11 trial date for two former Bartlesville police officers accused of assault and battery.

The Examiner-Enterprise reports that a judge scheduled the date Wednesday for Stacy Charles Neafus and Sonya Jean Worthington. Both faces misdemeanor charges of assault and battery.

The pair is accused of assaulting a man who was a patient at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Court records say the officers were called to the hospital on Sept. 18 on a report that a male patient was expressing suicidal thoughts and had become combative. Court records say witnesses reported seeing the two officers assaulting the patient while the man was handcuffed.
