Sheriff Seeks Court Order to Reduce Jail Count

Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz.
Tulsa County
Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz is asking a judge to order the Department of Corrections to pick up 259 DOC-ready inmates who are at the Tulsa Jail. Glanz says the inmates should be in state custody, but because of overcrowding, DOC refuses to accept them.

The action comes after the state Health Department's Jail Inspection Division cited Tulsa’s jail for overcrowding. The notice gives the jail until July 3 to correct the problem.
