A town hall meeting on Tulsa's proposed $920 million capital improvement package becomes contentious. The meeting was held last night at the OU Tulsa campus. At issue were some of the items included in the project.
Some of those speaking last night resented dollars going for anything but street improvements. Residents questioned councilors about the need for the city to pay for fire system improvements at the BOK Center, at a time when the center has a reserve fund of its own. Also the need for bike trails, additional funding for downtown revitalization and public transit were raised during the lengthy meeting.
There is another meeting set for this evening. It will be at the Rudisill Library at Pine and North Hartford. It begins at 6 P.M. The proposal is expected to be on the November general election ballot.
