3 Weekend Quakes

File photo

JONES, Okla. (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey reports three small earthquakes have been reported in the past few days in Oklahoma.

The USGS says the most recent quake was a 3.0 magnitude tremor about one mile northeast of Jones that was recorded at 3:44 a.m. Saturday. The area is about 15 miles east of Oklahoma City.

The other quakes were a 3.2 magnitude tremor at 5:46 p.m. Thursday and a 2.9 magnitude quake at 6:09 p.m. Thursday — both about 13 miles northwest of Medford and about 100 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.

No injuries or damage were reported.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage doesn't usually occur with earthquakes below magnitude 4.0.
