The weekend shooting of five people at a Hmong New Year celebration is having reverberations in Tulsa’s Asian community. Linda Lor is with Hmong American Association of Oklahoma. She says, “The incident has been a shock to the Hmong community because for the last thirty years we have lived in Tulsa, OK, nothing like this has ever happened.”
Lor says this will pull the community together. “We are like a family.” She says on the outside they are a community but within their community, “they are one person, a family.” She says when one person hurts, they all hurt.
Two cousins from the Lee clan have been arrested in connection with the incident. The shooting victims are all recovering.
