OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Some state lawmakers are expressing concern that state of Oklahoma employees made just more than 2 million visits to Facebook from July through September this year.
Oklahoma's Cyber Command Security Operations Center tracks the page visits and says the numbers are inflated somewhat because Facebook is embedded in many other websites — meaning its page is counted as viewed when the other sites are visited.
Republican state Rep. David Derby of Owasso told The Oklahoman that Facebook visits on state time is a waste of time and money. State officials say they're working to block Facebook from state computers unless an employee shows a legitimate need to access the site.
The security center's main job is to protect the system from cyber-attacks, but can also track website visits.
