American Airlines Flight Returns to TIA Shortly After Takeoff

An American Airlines flight headed from Tulsa to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport turned around shortly after takeoff after a suspected bird strike. 

The 757 took off at 10:31 a.m. with 182 passengers and seven crew members on board. 

After what may have been a bird struck an engine, the plane turned around and landed at Tulsa International Airport. Passengers were off the plane by 10:55 a.m.

No injuries were reported. American Airlines mechanics were inspecting the aircraft to determine exactly what happened. 

The airline's website estimated a new departure time of 12:10 p.m., though at the time of this post, flight 1491 still shows a status of delayed.

UPDATE, 3:00 p.m.

American Airlines' flight tracker shows flight 1491 left Tulsa again at 12:36 p.m. and arrived at a Dallas/Fort Worth gate at 1:46 p.m.
