Oklahoma's Top Prosecutor: Drug Source Secret

Department of Corrections

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — With two executions pending this month, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says his office is willing to provide details about the drugs being used in lethal injections, including dosage protocols and independent test results.

But Pruitt reiterated Thursday his office is drawing the line at naming their supplier, saying the compounding pharmacy must be kept confidential so Oklahoma can obtain the drugs needed to execute inmates.

Oklahoma has secured the drugs it needs to execute two men this month, but the inmates sued the state in February to learn more about the drugs that would be used to kill them.

Attorneys for the two say they have serious concerns about the use of secret compounding pharmacies to concoct these drugs.
