OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma House has given final legislative approval to a $7.1 billion budget bill to fund state government during the fiscal year that begins July 1st.
The House voted 56-39 Thursday for the Senate-passed bill and sent it to Governor Mary Fallin to be signed into law.
The bill would appropriate about $102 million less than the current year's budget, but would still increase funding for public schools by $80 million. It also includes a $44 million increase for the Department of Human Services and $36 million for targeted pay raises that include $4.6 million for Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, $5 million for Department of Corrections employees and $20 million for thousands of other state employees.
