CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) — A former state lawmaker has been named director of the Will Rogers Memorial Museums.
Former state Representative Tad Jones was selected as the museums' director on Friday by the Will Rogers Memorial Commission.
The Tulsa World reports Jones will join the staff on August 1st. Jones replaces Steve Gragert, who is retiring.
Jones, who grew up in Rogers County and graduated from Oologah High School, entered the Legislature in 1998. Due to term limits, his final term ended in November 2010. Jones served as House majority leader and chairman of the House Education Committee.
Jones will oversee the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore and the 400-acre Will Rogers' birthplace ranch at Oologah.
