Federal Grant to Help Pay for Riverside Modification

KWGS News

The City of Tulsa is getting a $10.6 million grant from the federal government.  The 'Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery' or 'TIGER' grant will be used for a portion of the modifications needed to Riverside Drive, between 27th and 33rd. That is the area near the Pedestrian Bridge and low water dam.

The area will  be a part of the Gathering Place for Tulsa. That is a new park-like setting being created by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and other philanthropic groups.

The 'TIGER' grant will pay for only about quarter of the expected Riverside Drive price tag of just over $38-million. Ground break for the Gathering Place is planned for later this month.
