DOC

ATOKA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in southeast Oklahoma are searching for an escaped inmate from the Howard McLeod Correctional Center in Atoka.

Atoka County Sheriff Tony Head told reporters that inmate Michael Courverler was last seen during a head count at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say Courverler may be with a woman in a black, 2007, 4-door Chevrolet Silverado.

Courverler is white, about 5-feet-9-inches tall and 135 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and gray pants.

Courverler was in prison for a variety of convictions that include assault and battery, grand larceny and extortion.
