OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Natural Gas is asking the Oklahoma Corporation Commission for a $50 million rate increase that would cost its average residential customers about $5 more a month.
Corporation Commission spokesman Matt Skinner says ONG's application was filed Wednesday. Skinner says the agency has 180 days to consider the utility's request.
ONG, with about 850,000 customers in Oklahoma, says it needs a rate hike to recover investments to maintain the safety and reliability of its natural gas distribution system. In a statement, Pierce Norton II, ONE Gas president and CEO, says ONG's top priority is safety, which requires continual reinvestment in infrastructure and technology.
If approved, the $50.4 million rate increase would raise an average customer's monthly bill by $4.98.
