The Flu is Here in Tulsa County

File photo

The first cases of influenza have been confirmed in Tulsa County. Mid-October is generally considered the start of the flu season in the state. There has been one hospitalization  in Tulsa County already.

The Tulsa Health Department's Kaitlin Snider says these season's flu vaccine seems to be a good match for the strains that are already showing up. She says a flu shot does not mean you won't get the flu, but it should lessen the impacts.

She says anyone over six months of age should get flu shot. Snider says it is particularly important for people over the age of 65. She says there is a high-dose flu shot for those individuals.
