Oklahoma School A-F Report Cards Released amid Criticism

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Board of Education has released the 2015 A-F report cards for public schools that state Superintendent Joy Hofmeister and several school superintendents say are deeply flawed.

The report shows 212 schools received A's, 497 received a B, 536 a C, 333 a D and 183 were given an F. The number of schools with A's and F's declined from 2014, while there are increases in the number with B's, C's and D's.

Hofmeister called the report cards that are required by state law "too flawed to be useful."

A state law that took effect in June requires the Board of Education to work with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education improve the accuracy of the school accountability system and issue a report by December.
