OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Planned Parenthood officials have asked the state to reconsider audit findings that its Oklahoma operations have billing errors.
Attorney for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland Tamya Cox says the organization sent a letter to the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Tuesday asking for an informal reconsideration of an audit that showed a billing error rate of about 14 percent. Planned Parenthood says the problems are exaggerated.
The Oklahoman reports that Gov. Mary Fallin cited the billing errors last month, urging the state's Medicaid provider to cancel contracts with two Planned Parenthood affiliates.
The state hasn't released the audits, but public records requests have been filed.
If the contracts are cancelled, Planned Parenthood users wouldn't be able to get Medicaid reimbursement for services.
Authority spokeswoman Jennie Melendez said it received the letter. Neither Cox nor Melendez provided a copy.
