TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed the life prison sentence of a 22-year-old man convicted of raping and beating an elderly woman to death.

The court handed down the decision Tuesday to Tyrone Woodfork of Tulsa. A Tulsa County Jury convicted Woodfork of the March 14, 2012, attack on 84-year-old Nancy Strait, who died the next day from complications of blunt head trauma.

Woodfork was also found guilty of two counts of robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a home-invasion attack on the victim and her 89-year-old husband, Bob Strait. He died on May 4, 2012, of what the Medical Examiner's Office says were underlying medical conditions.

Woodfork's defense attorney, Stuart W. Southerland, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
