To ensure that Tulsa children start the2016-2017 school year in the classroom, Tulsa Public Schools will open its Enrollment Center on Saturday, August 13 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. The district will offer these special Saturday hours to give working parents an opportunity to get their children enrolled before the first day of school.
“We want our children to start the year off on the right foot and that means being enrolled in time to join their classmates and teachers at school on August 22,” said Superintendent Deborah A. Gist.
Executive Director of Enrollment and Student Information Kris Serna said: “We want to make it easier for parents who can’t get here during the week due to their work schedules. We recognize the particular needs of our working parents, so we’ve created an opportunity that meets those needs and also serves the best interests of our students.”
In addition to providing enrollment services on August 13, representatives from Child Nutrition Services and Transportation will be on hand to share information and answer questions. The district will also offer free immunizations to students needing to meet the 2016-2017 immunization requirements necessary to enroll. Bilingual staff members will provide translation services for Spanish-speaking parents or guardians.
