The Coweta Tigers play the Catoosa Indians in tonight’s homecoming football game. But, there is one float that won’t be in the homecoming parade.
Coweta School Superintendent Jeff Holmes has ordered a float depicting a dead Native American and the words “Scalp the Indians” dismantled. A picture of the float went viral, prompting outcries from outraged Native Americans.
The superintendent offered an apology for the offending float and said the incident will used to educate students about the importance of respecting all cultures.
