'Start Up' Prize Goes to Pop House

TCC

The Pop House won the 2016 Tulsa StartUp Series Demo Day and walked away with the $15,000 cash prize. The Pop House makes craft ice pops with unique flavors and real ingredients for families and foodies from locally sourced fresh, natural ingredients. Brothers Chris and Robby Davis, along with Robby’s wife Megan, started the family business.

“This is a game-changer for us,” Chris Davis said. “The prize money allows us to execute our big vision for what we are trying to do for our company.” The Pop House also won a year membership to 36 Degrees North and will work with David LeCount, TCC faculty and George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair for Entrepreneurship for a year.

Agruity was named second place and won $4,000 and Dear Girls Magazine came in third place and won $1,500. Toy Vac was named Fan Favorite and received $1,000.

Demo Day is a live pitch competition and part of the Tulsa StartUp Series, powered by Tulsa Community College and the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation. The competition helps entrepreneurs innovate and accelerate their businesses with the focus on delivering resources and mentoring opportunities to entrepreneurs. Former Mayor Kathy Taylor started the Tulsa Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in 2007 that would evolve over the years into the Tulsa StartUp Series.
