Sentencing Set for Ex-Chamber Official in Embezzlement Case

GAO

A former chamber of commerce official who pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly half a million dollars from the group will be sentenced next week in federal court.

Former Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce director David Glenn Moore will be sentenced Thursday in Muskogee.

Moore has pleaded guilty to funneling nearly $440,000 from the chamber and using the money to gamble and pay off personal bills.

The Tahlequah Daily Press reports that he could be sentenced to more than three years in prison and ordered to pay restitution.

The embezzlement came to light when the city's former tourism director told board members her medical insurance had lapsed. When the board began to investigate, Moore abruptly resigned.
