Memorial Day Weekend May Find Lakes High and Swampy

US Army Corps of Engineers

The summer lake season may get off to a disappointing start in Green Country. The Memorial Day Weekend is considered the start of the summer recreation season, but this year, many area campgrounds are closed.

Recent flooding has left parks under water and full of debris. Even when the water recedes a campground can't be immediately reopened. That is especially true for RV parks where electrical service has been submerged.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working to get the parks reopen, but many will be closed well into June. Here  is a list of closed camp and boat ramp sites.
