TU Falls To North Florida at ITA

Lucca Baptista and Joshua Goodger remain unbeaten in dual matches, but the Golden Hurricane falls to North Florida, 4-3. Tulsa (2-3) split the singles matches with the Osprey (2-2), 3-3, but UNF took the match as it won the doubles point.

Goodger, ranked No. 82 by the ITA, faced Jefta Kecic in the No. 1 singles match. The first set needed a tiebreaker with the score at 6-6. In the tiebreaker, Goodger took control of the match as he won 7-3, to take the first set, 7-6 (7-3). Goodger continued where he left off in the tiebreaker as he won the second set, 6-2. Goodger is 5-0 on the season in dual singles matches.

In the No. 2 singles match, the No. 56 ranked Majed Kilani went up against Sahil Deshmukh. The first set was a tightly contested battle with Kilani came out on top, 7-5. In the second set, Kilani distanced himself from Deshmukh and won the set, 6-3. Kilani is 3-1 in dual singles matches.

At the No. 3 singles position, Lasse Muscheites defeated Jarod Hing, 7-5 and 6-2.

Lucca Baptista took the opening set against Till Von Winning in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4), at the No. 4 singles position. Von Winning answered and won the second set, 6-3. Baptista was unfazed as he won the third set, 6-3. Baptista has a 5-0 record in dual singles matches.

Joe Ellis knocked off Louis Corker 6-3 and 6-3 in the No. 5 singles match. Nilo Duarte defeated Boriss Kamdem in three sets, 3-6, 7-5, and 6-4, at the No. 6 singles position.

North Florida sealed the match as it collected the point for doubles. In the No. 1 doubles match, Kecic and Duarte beat Hing and Kilani, 6-2. Muscheites and Deshmukh clinched the match with a 6-3 victory against Corker and Goodger.

The Golden Hurricane falls to 2-3 on the season. Tulsa returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 28, as it battles the Yale Bulldogs. First serves are scheduled for 8 a.m.
