New Law Will Restrict Opioid Distribution

file photo

At midnight on Thursday, a new law will go into effect in Oklahoma. It will put strict limits on the amount of opioids a doctor can prescribe.

The state Narcotics Bureau says the law is needed to slow Oklahoma’s escalating prescription drug abuse problem.  The Bureau’s says 40-percent of Oklahoma’s over-dose deaths are tired to prescription medication.

Those who use the medication correctly fear the law will make it more difficult for them to get pain relief.
