Congressman Hern Says Congress Should Not Be Paid During Shutdown

Wikipedia

Tulsa’s new Congressman says he and other lawmakers should not be paid during the government shutdown. Republican Kevin Hern’s office issued a statement last night regarding on the shutdown and a joint resolution he is sponsoring:

Kevin Hern: “Members of Congress should not get paid. If we can’t come to an agreement on government funding and there is a lapse in appropriations, hundreds of thousands of federal employees around the country will be furloughed or working without pay. Members of Congress should not be paid during that time either. I hope this incentivizes my colleagues in Congress to make the safety of Americans their top priority.”
