The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported on Friday 794 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the state's total to 46,897.
Tulsa County had 131 of those cases. Its total is now 11,130, 182 fewer than Oklahoma County, which has the most in the state.
The state's seven-day average of new cases, which shows the trend in infections, dropped from 672 to 663, its lowest level since July 14. The seven-day average has fallen for four straight days and has generally declined since hitting a peak of 1,093 on Aug. 1. When Oklahoma moved to phase three of Gov. Kevin Stitt's reopening plan on June 1, the average was 69 cases.
Tulsa County's seven-day average of new cases dropped from 147 to 142, its lowest level since July 6.
The state health department reported 6 deaths Friday, with none in the past 24 hours. Two men between 50 and 64 years old died. The other four people who died were 65 or older.
COVID-19 has now officially killed 644 Oklahomans.
No Tulsa County residents were among the deaths reported Friday. A total of 113 county residents have died from the illness. Oklahoma County leads the state with 124 dead.
As of Thursday evening, 567 Oklahomans were hospitalized for COVID-19, 33 fewer than reported Wednesday. Of those hospitalized Thursday, 466 had positive coronavirus tests. Overall, 240 Oklahomans hospitalized for COVID-19 were in intensive care units, 13 fewer than the day before.
Tulsa County reported 181 residents hospitalized as of Wednesday and Thursday, a new high after Sunday's hospitalizations were adjusted from 181 to 179. Local hospitalization numbers change frequently based on new data. Tulsa County hospitalizations have been trending up since Aug. 1.
Over the course of the pandemic, 3,953 Oklahomans have been hospitalized for COVID-19.
The state reported 21% of its adult ICU beds were available as of Thursday.
The state health department reported an additional 627 patients as recovered on Friday, bringing the total to 39,282. Patients are considered to have recovered if they did not die, are not currently hospitalized and it has been at least 14 days since their symptoms began. Symptoms have been reported to linger for several weeks for some individuals.
The state has 6,971 active cases of COVID-19, 161 more than the day before.
Tulsa County reported a total of 9,657 patients recovered as of Friday, an increase of 112 from the day before. The county has 1,360 active cases, 19 more than the day before.
The state's overall positive test rate remained at 7.1%. Out of 12,150 tests reported on Thursday, 7.9% were positive. Each positive test does not necessarily represent a unique individual.
The World Health Organization's benchmark indicating adequate testing is a 5% positive test rate.
