American Killed In Attack On CIA Office In Kabul
An Afghan employed by the U.S. government was shot dead after he turned his weapon on his American colleagues, according to a U.S. Embassy statement. Another U.S. citizen was wounded in the shooting around the former Ariana Hotel, which ex-U.S. intelligence officials said is the CIA station in Kabul.
Shutdown Showdown Continues: Senate Has Key Vote Today
Lawmakers in Washington are still at odds over how to put some more money into the coffers of the stretched-thin Federal Emergency Management Agency. If the dispute isn't settled by the end of the week, part of the government might have to shut down.
Voters May Face Slower Lines In 2012 Elections
Facing cutbacks, election offices across the country are making tough decisions, such as trimming the number of voting sites and shortening the number of days for early voting. Doug Lewis, who runs The Election Center, says that at the very least, voters should be prepared for slower lines in 2012.

The Rapid Rise Of America's Man In Kandahar
Just 33, Gen. Abdul Raziq is the acting police chief of Afghanistan's volatile Kandahar province. He was a key figure in the U.S. military's "surge" operation last year. But Raziq, a former warlord, has also been linked to abuses of power, including an alleged massacre, according to a new article in The Atlantic.
