Bargain CT Scans For Smokers: More Harm Than Good?
Hospitals around the country have started offering deeply discounted CT scans for smokers. A recent study found such screenings could reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer in heavy, long-term smokers and ex-smokers. But the findings came with important caveats, and some experts worry the offers may encourage patients to get tests they don't need.
