Tulsa, Oklahoma – Since it's "back to school" time once again, we at StudioTulsa are offering a series of outstanding education-related programs from our archives. We're calling it Education Week --- five shows from the recent past in which we hear from leading educators and education experts. On today's show, we speak with Geoffrey Canada, winner of the 2010 Brock International Prize in Education, a prestigious award jointly given by the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Tulsa. Canada has been the President and CEO of Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) since 1990. Year by year, HCZ has earned a remarkable reputation among education researchers and scholars for its total commitment to building an infrastructure of support for the approximately 10,000 New York City children who live in an especially poor and "at risk" section of Harlem.
