Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's program, we hear from Jeff Guinn, an award-winning writer of both fiction and nonfiction who formerly worked as the books editor and a senior writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Guinn's new book is an interesting and quite compelling work of popular history that investigates (and even corrects) certain aspects of America's "Old West" mythology --- the book is called "The Last Gunfight: The Real Story of the Shootout at the O.K. Corral --- And How It Changed the American West." For openers: Wyatt Earp, as Guinn explains, is not the "white-hat hero" that Hollywood has been presenting to us for several generations now. Far from it, actually. . . . Guinn will appear in Tulsa tomorrow night (Tuesday the 24th) at a Book Smart Tulsa reading/signing event, which happens at Gilcrease Museum and begins at 7pm.
