23rd Annual Guest Poet Series featuring Ellen Bass

23rd Annual Guest Poet Series featuring Ellen Bass

Oklahoma City University will host public presentations by celebrated poet Ellen Bass on April 6 for the 23rd annual Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry Series. Our first event at 10:00AM and a follow-up event at 8:00PM. A chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, Bass has received many awards and recognitions for her work including a finalist designation for the Paterson Poetry Prize, the Publishers Triangle Award, the Milt Kessler Poetry Award, the Lambda Literary Award and the Northern California Book Award. She is the author of 10 books, including recent poetry titles “Like a Beggar” and “The Human Line” published by the Copper Canyon Press. Her latest book of poems, "Indigo," was released just last year. “Ellen Bass has written these poems in service and celebration of Eros, the life force that can wake us, the weary citizens of this all too broken world,” described fellow poet Marie Howe. “The poems know what they contend with; they don’t flinch. Then they sing their joy.” Join us for live readings, discussion, and workshops led by Ellen Bass herself. Stay tuned to our website and social media for updates regarding this event you won't want to miss!
