Tulsa, OK – Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR (STF | PR) and McAfee & Taft will present New Media University: Online or Out of Line? Social Media and Your Employees from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 17 at OSU-Tulsa.

Topics to be covered include an overview of the social media landscape, tools for implementing social media policy in the workplace and how engaging in social media helps or hurts a company's image and productivity.

"The seminar is aimed at human resources professionals, business owners, CEOs and public relations and marketing executives wanting to learn how to manage internal and external communications through social media," said Mike Koehler, new media director for STF | PR. "Crafting policy that best serves a company's employees and customers is something that all organizations should be addressing right now."

Koehler will lead the seminar, along with Dara Wanzer, an attorney with the law firm of McAfee & Taft. The seminar will also feature a broad-based panel of business and industry leaders who will discuss their experiences with social media in the workplace.

"As social media usage continues to climb, it's imperative that companies understand their rights and responsibilities for monitoring the social media activities of their employees, both at the workplace and off the clock," said Wanzer. "For employers, balancing an employee's reasonable expectation of privacy with their own legitimate business concerns can be tricky. That's why having a clearly-defined electronic and social media policy in place is so important."
