OOLOGAH, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in northeast Oklahoma are trying to figure out what happened to a miniature horse that was found dead with a gunshot wound.
Roger County Sheriff Scott Walton says deputies were called to investigate after a motorist on Thursday reported a small brown horse lying on part of a road west of Oologah. The scene was near the Washington County line.
Investigators say the horse had not been hit by a car, but suffered a gunshot wound.
Walton says deputies are working to locate the horse's owner to find out why it was on the roadside and why it had been shot.
