STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — A former Oklahoma State University student charged with sexual battery is due back in a Payne County courtroom.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Monday for 22-year-old Nathan Cochran. Cochran has pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual battery. The hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to order that Cochran be tried on the charges.
Prosecutors allege that Cochran molested or attempted to molest male students while they slept in a dorm room. Affidavits filed in the case allege that the incidents occurred in August and November.
OSU officials came under fire for not immediately reporting the alleged incidents to authorities, instead handling the complaints through disciplinary boards. Local police say they didn't learn of the allegations until Dec. 6, when contacted for comment by OSU's college newspaper.
