A bone chilling cold covers all of Oklahoma. The thermometer dropped to 11 degrees in Tulsa and that was not the worst part. The wind whipped from the north pushing the Wind Chill Index into negative territory. At 8 a.m. in Tulsa, skies were sunny but the wind chill was -5.
Children waited in the bitter cold for school buses, while motorists dealt with cranky car batteries that would not crank. Auto shops and response clubs reported waits for emergency service.
Forecasters say tonight will be even colder with the actual air temperature to drop to -7.
