OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has signed legislation authorizing pay raises of up to 6 percent for district attorneys and judges across the state.
The measure is among more than 50 bills passed by the 2014 Oklahoma Legislature that Fallin signed Tuesday.
A state board last year recommended a 12 percent pay raise for the judiciary, whose salaries are linked to the pay for statewide elected officials like the governor. But the measure Fallin signed rejects pay raises for judges on Oklahoma's appellate courts and for statewide elected officials.
The new judicial salaries will take effect July 1. District court judges will be paid $131,835, associate judges will be paid $121,596 and special judges will receive $111,356. District attorneys are paid 98 percent of the salary of a district judge.
