A testing proposal is on the agenda for a special meeting Friday of the state board of education.
"I don't have any details on what the board will be considering, but they will be looking at the winter testing window that's approaching," said Tricia Pemberton with the state education department. "The board would be asked to consider making a decision as quickly as possible."
The board rejected Superintendent Janet Barresi’s recommendation last month to award CTB/McGraw Hill a $2.8 million contract for winter testing. The education department fired the vendor after statewide testing disruptions happened two years in a row.
Most Oklahoma high school students take end-of-instruction exams in the spring, but some schools’ calendars are better suited for winter testing.
