Specialty food store 'Trader Joe's' has made public what has been rumored for months. The company will open its first Oklahoma store, here, in Tulsa.
The store will be in Brookside at 37th and South Peoria. It should open later this year.
MAYOR BARTLETT: “This is great news for the city of Tulsa and opens up the door to an entirely new retail market,” Mayor Dewey Bartlett said. “With the announcements of Costco, Urban Outfitters and now Trader Joe’s, Tulsa is a place where retailers want to be as we have a strong economy, philanthropic and business community and have a uniqueness that is hard to find anywhere else in the country.”
While a typical grocery store may carry 50,000 items, Trader Joe's stocks about 4,000 items, 80% of which bear one of its own brand names.
