The Society of Professional Journalists, Oklahoma Professional Chapter, present two of its first place awards to KWGS in a special ceremony on Saturday evening.
Radio, print, newspapers, magazines, on-line publications and television in Oklahoma were honored by the SPJ during its banquet. It was held in the Skyroom of the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel at Catoosa.
KWGS was presented a first-place award, in the radio newscast division, for a 'Morning Edition' local newscast. The station's long running 'Studio Tulsa with Rich Fisher' also took home a first place award as well. That program was produced by Scott Gregory.
During the evening, KWGS was also cited for spot news coverage, feature and governmental reporting. KWGS' Matt Trotter was honored for his reporting portfolio.
While Tulsa television stations were presented with awards, KWGS was the ONLY Tulsa radio station to be honored by the Society of Professional Journalists.
