The city of Tulsa has planned a prescription drug take event for later this month. The event will give Tulsans an opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted medications and prescriptions.
The city's environmental compliance specialist Kristi Shrieve says prescription drug overdoses kill more Tulsa citizens than traffic accidents. By properly disposing these medications, it will not only address prescription drug abuse but also keep these drugs from entering our water ways.
The event is scheduled for September 26 at two Reasor's located at 71st and Sheridan and 41st and Yale and at Save-A-Lot on Pine and Lewis.
In addition to the take back event the city of Tulsa, along with the Coalition Against Prescription and Substance Abuse of Tulsa is hosting an overdose memorial walk and candlelight vigil. The walk and vigil is scheduled for September 25 from 7pm to 9pm at Centennial Park on 6th and Peoria St.
