Maintenance Worker Dies in Accident at Tulsa Fairgrounds

Greatparks.com

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A maintenance worker was killed and another was injured when they fell while working on a ride at the Tulsa fairgrounds.

Their names were not immediately released.

District Fire Chief Lee Horst told reporters the two were working a ride called the Skyride when the basket they were in fell about 10 a.m. Saturday. Both men were wearing safety harnesses and were hanging about 90 feet off the ground. Both men were taken to a hospital where fire Capt. Stan May says one of the men was pronounced dead. The other man was reported in fair condition.

Expo Square released a statement saying the men were on a platform used to service and inspect rides and that officials are cooperating with public safety officials to determine the cause of the accident.
